Theatre For Youth 2010-2011 Matinee and Touring Series

We are Playhouse on the Square, The Circuit Playhouse, and the Playhouse on the Square Touring Company. Since 1985, we have been providing opportunities for youth in the MidSouth to attend live professional theatre during school hours. We will begin accepting reservations for the 2010-2011 school year August 1, 2010.

The Toymaker’s Apprentice

The toy shop is a magical, extraordinary place! With Christmas just around the corner, the master toymaker Gideon realizes he needs help to get all the baubles, contraptions, gizmos, and whirly-gigs made. When he searches for an apprentice, two youngsters come forth both wanting to work in his wondrous shop. Gideon takes them on, promising the job to the one that creates the best toy. Unfolding with rich storytelling, this cheery holiday play is a timeless classic sure to warm your heart.

The Main Street Kid’s Club: A MathStart Musical

An original musical by Scott Ferguson, based on the MathStart book series by Stuart J. Murphy. Book and Lyrics by Scott Ferguson, Music and Lyrics by Michael Mahler

Scott Ferguson, creator of the smash-hit production, Schoolhouse Rock Live!, strikes gold again. “The Main Street Kid’s Club: A MathStart Musical” is a charming play based on the hugely popular book series by Stuart J. Murphy. Many mathematical concepts are explored through the use of fun characters and their adventures in the club. The show weaves six of the MathStart books together with original lyrics by Scott Ferguson and Michael Mahler and original music by Michael Mahler.

Have the Contact Teacher and the Principal sign one contract and return it to Playhouse on the Square. Your field trip/tour is not officially confirmed until the completed contract has been signed and returned.
