Originally from Marquette, Michigan, Michael has called Memphis home since joining the Resident Company in 1989. Honored with a BME in Music Education from Northern Michigan University and a MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University. Michael has over 75 professional credits, hundreds of TV commercial, industrial, and voice-over credits, and has appeared in 8 films including Nothing but the Truth, The ClientThe People Vs. Larry Flint, and Castaway. Michael was hired as the first-ever Associate Producer in 1998. Favorite pas acting roles include Every Good Boy Deserves Favor (Ivanov); 1776 (John Adams); The Rocky Horror Show (Brad); Laughter on the 23rd Floor (Milt); Side Man (Gene); Art (Yvan); Ragtime (Tateh); and Man of La Mancha (Don Quioxte), some of which earned him Memphis Theatre Ostrander Awards. Also, as a director, Michael has helmed productions including Tuesdays with Morrie, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, and A Man of No Importance, for which he received an Ostrander Award. Michael is also the Audition Coordinator for the United Professional Theatre Auditions. He is happily married to Denice Perkins and they have a wonderful daughter named Patsy.
