Curtain Up Poster for website

“The finest pleasures are always the unexpected ones.” – Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus

Playhouse on the Square’s annual Curtain Up fundraiser is Friday, November 8th from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM. This year’s theme is Carnival Noir. The dark carnival traffics in the delightfully unusual, mixing elements of a traditional carnival with unexpected and theatrical twists. Enjoy games, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and live entertainment all night in five different environments:

  • The Rooftop:* Piano lounge with Alexis Grace, tarot card readings, henna tattoos, coffee & assorted liqueurs, smores
  • The Cafe: Music by Nay Nay & The Do Right Boys with special guests Carla McDonald and Claire Kolheim
  • The Event Room: Party maze, cotton candy, palm readings
  • The Trap Room Speakeasy: Poker, penny pitching, wheel of fate, and the vaudevillian sounds of the band Black Max
  • The Main Lobby: Face painting, costume photo station, traveling magic

End the night by dancing on the Playhouse main stage with the Memphis Knights Big Band, an 18-piece swing and jazz group that will make you jump, jive, and wail with their great harmonies and big sound.

Tickets are $75 per person, but as everyone who has attended in the past will tell you…it is worth every penny! Don’t miss this exciting sampling where all of your senses are taken to the limit! Call 901-726-4656 for tickets.

*In the event of inclement weather, rooftop entertainment will be moved to the main lobby.

Sponsored by Macy’s, Jeramie L. Simmons, and Wade and Company Catering
