OPEN POSITIONS:

GENERAL COSTUME SHOP TECHNICIAN – ASSOCIATE RESIDENT COMPANY 

Major responsibilities of position: Works directly under the Costume Shop Manager on all the season’s productions. General technician helps with builds/alterations and may be a firsthand or cutter/draper depending on the show and their skill level. They will also work as wardrobe and be in charge of laundry for running shows. Wig and craft opportunities depending on show.

The position requires good sewing skills and general knowledge of wardrobe. They will be working regularly with a rotation of volunteers and over-hire stitchers. A college degree and previous experience is preferred. A car is not required but is preferred. Box Office Associate

Playhouse on the Square (POTS) is accepting applications for friendly, outgoing individuals for a part-time Box Office Associate position. The Box Office Associate assists in the daily operations of the box office and is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, single tickets sales and subscription processing. Responsible for processing cash and credit card sales with a high degree of accuracy. Hours will vary depending on event schedule. The successful candidate must be extremely flexible to work various hours and days on a week to week basis. The candidate can expect to work 14-20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and some holidays.

Essential Duties:

  • Sells tickets on the computerized box office system to customers in person and by telephone.
  • Provides information to customers regarding all aspects of the theatre programming.
  • Maintains the box office database, ensuring all information is recorded accurately.
  • Must have excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills.

Requirements:

  • Must have an energetic personality with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed data entry accurately and with adequate speed, normally requiring a speed of 20 wpm.
  • Ability to use a computer and specialized software applications, TheatreManager, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications: High School graduate and two years of customer service experience that included using computerized data systems and the processing of sales receipts.

Part-Time House Manager

Playhouse on the Square (POTS) is accepting applications from personable and professional individuals for a part-time House Manager position. The House Manager is responsible for all things Front of House during performances at Playhouse on the Square, The Circuit Playhouse, and Playhouse productions at TheatreWorks@TheSquare and is responsible for overseeing ushers, cleaning and checking all public areas, helping the show start on time, and ensuring patron satisfaction and safety. Hours will vary depending on performance schedule. The successful candidate must be extremely flexible to work various hours and days on a week to week basis. The candidate can expect to work 8+ hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Essential Duties:

  • Work with volunteers and stage management to keep performances on schedule
  • Greet patrons and handle any complaints or questions in a timely and professional manner
  • Oversee all public areas during performances and aid in safety and cleaning measures

Requirements:

  • Must have an energetic personality with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow Playhouse protocol and safety procedures 
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
  • Must pass a background check and be vaccinated for COVID-19

ASSOCIATE RESIDENT COMPANY OPPORTUNITIES:

Circuit Playhouse, Inc. is excited to launch the Associate Resident Company in the Summer of 2023.   

Due to the industry’s growing demands and CPI’s commitment to creating a safe and equitable environment, the organization will now offer full-time contracted positions in the fields of performance, design/tech, management, and arts administration.  The positions are compensated at wages comparable to industry standards.

Program Benefits:

  • Work for a year with a respected 55-year-old non profit regional theatre.
  • $300.00/week starting pay.
  • Housing, local phone, washer and dryer are provided.
  • You will not have to look for work or relocate frequently.
  • For Performance Residents: Your resume will include 4 to 6 new performance credits.
  • Design Residents: will acquire 4 to 6 production design credits.
  • The Theatre Education Residents will assist in the creation of education curriculum for a season of Theatre School classes plus they have the opportunity to perform and/or direct in Theatre Education productions during the season.
  • Cost of living in Memphis is very affordable.
  • Health care benefits are available for a minimal fee.
  • Work hours are vary based on your department of discipline.  However, all Residents work a total of 40 hours/week.
